The Šumavský Dvůr development is situated in the Železná Ruda – Špičák area. This beautiful mountain location, situated close to the local ski resorts, offers the quietest and most beautiful Summer and Winter experiences available.

Downhill skiing / snowboarding

The apartments are located close to Hotel Horizont, right beside the ski-slopes of Špičák ski resort, which is amongst one of the best ski resorts in the whole of the Czech Republic. The resort has more then 8km of downhill slopes of varying levels including Šance – the steepest slope in the country. There is also a wide range of alternative ski resorts available in the region including Big Maple (Grosser Arber) located on the Bavarian side of the border.

Cross-country skiing

In the Železné Rudy area, cross-country skiers can find more than 100km of trails  providing perfect conditions for experienced cross-country skiers and beginners alike. Most of the trails transverse the mountain peaks of Pancíř – Můstek – Prenet, where the chair lift at Špičák – Hofmanky – Pancíř makes it easy to reach the summit for cross-country skiing.

Hiking and biking

The location of Železnorudsko is not only a paradise for lovers of winter sports, but thanks to its convenient location very near the border with Germany, it is a great place for getting to know Šumava region and Bavorský forest. Šumava also offers a number of hiking trails, 500 km of marked cycling paths and other possible trails suitable for cycling.

Nature Reserve

Because of its location in the densely populated area of Central Europe Šumava is often called “the green roof of Europe”, due to the high level of preservation of nature and rich water resources. There are remnants of primeval vegetation of mountain forests, glacier lakes and valley bogs.

Cultural heritage

The location of Šumana and Železnorudsko is particularly rich in cultural heritage. You can visit many castles (e.g. Přimda, Rábí), chateauxs (e.g. Kozel, Chudenice), churches and monasteries(e.g. unique church in Dobrá Voda), a number of fortified settlements and cemeteriesor preserved glass workshops.  There are also museums and galleries (e.g. Chodský hrad in Domažlice town, Gallery in Klenová chateau) and other attractions (e.g. Casemate or Baroque Pharmacy in Klatovy town).

Cultural life

Šumava offers many cultural events. In many towns there are regular traditional fairs with displays of medieval crafts. You can visit the castles battle displays, folklore festivals (celebration of Železnorudsko is held once a year in Železná Ruda), and also many Summer music festivals with diverse concert and theater programs.

Community facilities

From your apartment you will have beautiful views over the surrounding countryside and mountains. However the proximity of the village of  Železná Ruda will also provide you with all that can be expected of a mountain village with many services and businesses available including a number of shops and restaurants, postal facility.
